Sochi held to second goalless draw

print version

Vladimir Fedootov’s Sochi drew their second winter training match 0-0 on Wednesday against Austrian side St. Polten. New signing Erik Vardanyan had to again sit on the sidelines due to injury.

St. Polten were formed 20 years ago and joined the fifth tier of Austrian football. Two successive promotions in their first two years were followed by an Austrian Cup runners up finish in 2013/14. This granted them a European debut in the Europa League qualifiers, where they beat Botev Plovdiv before losing to PSV Eindhoven.

Today they fly back to southern Russia for a break before returning on Monday for the second of their three training camps in Turkey, when they will play four more warmup matches. Specific opponents haven’t been announced yet.
