Young Ural side comfortably beaten by IK Brage of Sweden

print version

FC Ural Ekaterinburg’s young lineup were soundly beaten 4-2 by Swedish second-tier outfit IK Brage on Tuesday. Goals from Denis Novikov and Evgeniy Tatarinov were not enough for their more experienced opponents.

Brage took the lead after just seven minutes before doubling their advantage on the stroke of half time from the penalty spot. Novikov responded three minutes after the break before Tatarinov converted his own penalty to make it 2-2 on the hour mark.

Two late goals sealed the result for Brage. The scoreline almost doubled the number of goals Ural had conceded in training matches this winter.

The highest level all but one of Ural’s lineup have played at this season is the third-tier PFL for FC Ural II. Only six have made Russian Premier Liga matchday squads, with only Artem Yusupov making it on the pitch for two minutes.

The exception is goalscorer Tatarinov who spent the first part of the season on loan at FNL promotion contenders Torpedo Moscow. He played just 261 minutes across 12 league appearances without scoring.
