Djorje Despotovic’s cool finish set Rubin on the way to a shock win against 10-man Spartak Moscow before the Serbian struck late in from close range. Roman Zobnin was sent off in first-half added time, and when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia slid through a tantalising ball shortly after the break, Despotovic made no mistake. Numbers were levelled out with 20 minutes remaining when Oliver Abilgaard was also shown a red card, but Rubin held firm until Despotovic’s second.

Spartak stay fourth on 35 points, while Rubin move up to seventh, four points further back.
