Classic rivalries entered the derby with eight-point distance between, and the day before Sochi jumped over CSKA to third place thanks to a win against Akhmat. Anton Zabolotny made his first start fro CSKA since recovering from the injury, while Guilhermo Varela came back to starting 11 replacing Sergey Parshvlyuk. 

The first-half ended with just three shots on target from both sides, and after half-time Aleksey Berezutsky tried to bring new forces replacing the winter newcomers. Jesus Medina spent just one half in the derby, while RPL record holder Yusuf Yazici failed to score in a second matchday, and he was substituted to Chidera Ejuke with 30 minutes to go in the regular time.

It took nine minutes for Ejuke to break the deadlock, as he ran one-on-one against Anton Shunin and left no chance for him. Dynamo are favorites for the Nigerian, that’s his fourth goal against the White-Blues in four meetings. Chidera had a chance for a brace, but it went near the post. Dynamo was close to rescue, but Konstantin Tyukavin after replacing Fedor Smolov hit the post.

CSKA go back third on 47 points, while Dynamo stay second on 52 points.
