Defender and veteran of FC Amkar Aleksey Popov made a decision to finish his football career.

The football player, who spent 424 games for the Perm club in championships of the country, decided to leave despite the current contract to be valid to the end of this year, the club’s official site says.

- I want to be a happy man and not to serve a number in a team that I am not proud of anymore as a player, - Aleksey said to the Club’s official site. – I won’t look for another club and plan to focus on development of my business. Amkar is my native team that gave me too much. I wish them luck but, alas, without me. Will I follow football? I don’t know. Yet it is too hard to watch it from the side.  

Aleksey Popov, who turned 35 this July, played for Amkar from his first year at a professional arena (1995) and for a long time he was one of a few trainees of the Perm club playing for the club and repeatedly entered the field as a captain. Aleksey played his last game for the Perm club in the 28^th tour of the previous championship when he played 63 minutes in an away game against Kuban. In the current season Popov played for reserves and appeared in 6 games of the championship.
