Salomón Rondón to Zenit

Zenit and FC Rubin gained an agreement on a transfer of Venezuelan national team striker Salomon Rondón to Zenit. Rondón underwent a medical examination in Saint-Petersburg and signed a 5 year contract with Zenit. Rondón will wear a number 9, the club’s official site says

José Salomón Rondón Giménez was born on September 16, 1989 in Caracas, Venezuela. He made his debut in the Venezuelan first division at the age of 17, appearing for Aragua FC, with which he won the Venezuelan Cup. He then moved to the Spanish side Las Palmas in 2008, which was playing in Spain’s second division at the time.

Rondón became an FC Málaga player in July, 2010, and played two seasons for the club, featuring in 67 mathes and scoring 25 goals. Rondón set the record for most goals by a Venezuelan player in the Spanish La Liga, scoring 12 goals. 

Rondón moved on to FC Rubin in 2012, playing 57 matches and scoring 24 goals for the Kazan side. He played in the Youth World Cup in 2009.
