Dynamo playing against Portuguese club was awaited by the supporters with a big interest. Benfica after sudden defeat from Serbian OFK (0:1) at the beginning of the competition managed to triumph against Malaga (3:1). That match had not only many goals, but also cautions for both teams. Dynamo started the tournament by means of a comeback win in the match against Greek PAOK (3:2) and then they had a tough win over their compatriots CSKA (1:0). This is the second final for the white-and-light-blue team in this Cup history. In the first one the players by Dmitry Khokhlov did not manage to win over Olympic team of Mexico.
