According to the results of 2014 forward of Zenit Hulk received this Award. He was chosen due to a number of reasons: he decently survived the failure of his National Team at FIFA World Cup in Brazil and was trying to show his best football in every match for Zenit; he continues to be the leader of the Russian team and has never given any negative comments addressed to the Brazilian supporters and media, which criticized the forward after the FIFA World Cup; did not react to the opinion of the Russian experts that he is losing his skills in Zenit; and he still remains one of the best forwards in the Russian Championship and the level of his performance is higher than many other players in the Russian Championship; besides, he struck the Russian audience with his warm and tender feelings towards kids and family, as the website of the club informs.

— This Award speaks about me as not only a player, but also about my personality, — the Brazilian told at the ceremony. — I am really pleased. Thank you.

Head Coach of Arsenal Tula Dmitry Alenichev, who had also played for Porto, handed this Award to Hulk.

Zenit forward became the first player from far-abroad countries, which received such Award. Before the following Zenit players got this Award, which is handed since 1994: Alexander Kerzhakov (2004) and Konstantin Zyryanov (2007).
