Zenit St. Petersburg have signed Brazilian under-23 international midfielder Wendel from Sporting Club. The 23-year-old has signed a contract until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Wendel made his debut for Fluminense in April 2017 and played 41 matches for the Brazilian club, scoring six goals and creating two assists. He made the move to Sporting Lisbon in January 2018 and played 79 matches for the Portuguese giants, scoring six goals and providing eight assists.

In Lisbon, Wendel lifted the Portuguese Cup and League Cup, and has played in both legs of the first knockout stage of the Europa league in both of the last two seasons.
