print version

Russian international forward Fedor Smolov has left Lokomotiv Moscow to join city rivals Dynamo. He has signed a contract until the end of next season, with an option for a one-year extension.

Smolov is returning home to the club where he grew up through the academy system and made his professional debut in April 2007. After loan spells in the Netherlands with Feyenoord and twice with Anzhi Makhachkala, his career kicked off at Ural Ekaterinburg where he saved the club from relegation with eight goals in the second part of the season on loan.

In 2015 he moved to krasnodar where he twice finished RPL top goalscorer before joining Lokomotiv in 2018. Either side of another loan spell, this time to Celta Vigo in LaLiga where he scored against Real Madrid and Barcelona, he scored 29 goals in 98 games in all competitions for the Railroaders, including seven in 15 matches this season to equal his best personal tally since 2017/18.

Overall, Smolov has scored 89 goals in 263 RPL matches, as well as 16 goals in 45 caps for Russia.
