On 22 October the famous Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin would have celebrated his 88th birthday.

Lev Yashin will always be in our hearts as one of the best football players in the world, a goalkeeper of new type, soul of the team. His commitment to our favourite game, real professionalism and frank humanism are the perfect example for the younger generations.

The name of the famous goalkeeper is given to the FIFA Best Goalkeeper Award and the Goalkeeper of the Year prize in Russia.

Lev Yashin played for Dynamo Moscow in the period between 1949 and 1970. He is pentacampion of the USSR, Olympic Champion (1956), European Champion (1960), Vice-Champion of Europe (1964). The only goalkeeper, which received the Golden Ball to the Best Player of Europe (1963). Yashin is announced by FIFA as the Best Goalkeeper of XX century.
