On 19 July the famous Soviet football player, Merited Master of Sports, two times Champion of the USSR and the USSR Cup holder, goalkeeper of the Soviet Union National team Anzor Kavazashvili celebrates his 75-anniversary.
During his fantastic playing career Anzor Kavazashvili played for Dynamo Tbilisi (1957-1959), Zenit St.Petersburg (1960), Torpedo Moscow (1961-1968) and Spartak Moscow (1969-1971), Torpedo Kutaisi (1972). In total he played 274 matches in the USSR Championships. Anzor Kavazashvili became twice the USSR Champion (1965, 1969), USSR Cup holder (1968, 1970). Kavazashvili was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the country twice(1965 and 1967), he is Lev Yashin Club Member (163 with clean sheet).
Anzor Kavazashvili played 29 matches for the National Team of the USSR. He helped the team to reach their best result in history of participating in the World Cups - FIFA World Cup 1966 semifinal.
After his playing career was over Anzor Kavazashvili did not leave football. He worked as a coach, official of the Russian Football Federation, State Committee for Sports, Russian Football Union, now he is the President of the All-Russian Football Federation.
