print version

On Thursday, 19 January, presentation of the official logo of St.Petersburg as host city of UEFA EURO 2020 took place in First Cadet Corps Manege building  in St.Petersburg.

The official event was attended by UEFA President Aleksander  Ceferin, who visited Russia for the first time after his election as UEFA President, Deputy PM of the Russian Federation, FUR President  Vitaly Mutko, St.Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko,   Russia 2018 LOC CEO Alexey Sorokin, FUR CEO Alexander Alaev,  National Team of Russia Head coach Stanislav Cherchesov, many FUR ExCo members including 1st Vice President Nikita Simonyan, RFPL President Sergey Pryadkin, FNL President Igor Efremov, PFL President Andrey Sokolov, Futsal Association of Russia President Emil Aliev, Head of FUR Veterans Union Alexander Mirzoyan and Zenit St.Petersburg President Alexander Dyukov.

The upcoming tournament will become the first European Championship, which will be hosted by 13 cities: Amsterdam (Netherlands), Baku (Azerbaijan), Bilbao (Spain), Brussels (Belgium), Budapest (Hungary), Bucharest (Romania), Glasgow (Scotland), Dublin (Republic of Ireland), Copenhagen (Denmark), London (England), Munich (German), Roma (Italy) and, of course, our St.Petersburg (Russia).

The EURO visual identity for 2020 sees each of the 13 host city logos feature a single bridge from the city in question. The bridges show how football also serves as a bridge between geographical and social divides, and unites nations and fans.

The iconic Palace Bridge is the key element of St Petersburg's host city logo, and attracts millions of tourists each year – particularly when it is lit up at night.

Two famous Soviet players brought to the podium the main trophy which will be received by the champion team of EURO-2020 – Olympic Champion of 1956 Nikita Simonyan and bronze medals winner of FIFA World Cup 1966 Vasily Danilov.

Before EURO 2020 Russia (including St.Petersburg) will host two big international tournaments – FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 and FIFA World Cup 2018.
