It’s been a couple of months that UEFA launched Together #WePlayStrong campaign, the purpose of which is to make football the most mass female sport in Europe by 2022.
According to UEFA research among more than 4000 girls, young female players are more confident than girls in other kinds of sport. Women football is on the different levels of development in European countries, but its influence on self-confidence is evident.
The Football Union of Russia fully supported Together #WePlayStrong campaign and joined it as well as other football associations if Europe!
The first event was held at U-21 men’s match between Russia and Belarus on 31 May 2017 in Moscow. Young female players wearing specially made T-shirts Together #WePlayStrong were taking penalty kicks to the substitute goalkeeper of our team Ilya Pomazun during halftime.
Young players tried themselves on a real football pitch for the first time in their lives and they were quite enthusiastic. We hope that thousands of other Russian girls will follow their example within the upcoming five years.
The pinnacle of the event was a photo session with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Government, FUR President Vitaly Mutko.
On 8 and 11 June within the frames of preparation for WEURO-2017 final tournament in the Netherlands National women’s team of Russia played two friendly matches against Serbia in Ramenskoye. Players escort for both teams were girls in the same T-shirts with logo.
