Lokomotiv comfortably beaten by Croatians Osijek

Lokomotiv again failed to keep a clean sheet as they lost 2-0 to Osijek on Thursday in their second winter training match in Spain. Two first-half goals put their opponents in the driving seat, and Lokomotiv couldn’t respond in kind.

This was the fourth friendly meeting in three years. Lokomotiv won 2-1 three years ago and 1-0 a year later, and drew 0-0 in the summer of 2018. Osijek restart their league season next weekend, and had already beaten Puskas Akademia and Nurnberg, as well as drawing 1-1 with Dinamo Bucharest, on their warm-weather training camp.

The sharpness of Osijek counted early on as they took the lead on 17 minutes through new signing Eros Grezda. There was little Anton Konchenkov could do to keep out Mirko Maric’s one-on-one effort ten minutes before the break.

Vedran Corluka and Benedikt Howedes both started having missed the 3-3 draw with FCSB earlier this week. It was 21-year-old Dmitri Rybchinskiy who came closest to scoring for Lokomotiv, drawing a one-handed save.

Lokomotiv face South Korean side Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors on Sunday to conclude their first training camp.
