Dynamo thrash Spartaks Jurmala thanks to N’Jie double

print version

Dynamo Moscow were rampant against Latvians Spartaks Jurmala on Friday. They ran in five unanswered goals by four different goalscorers, capped off by 17-year-old Konstantin Tyukavin’s first goal with the senior side.

It only took 11 minutes for Konstantin Rausch to send a volleyed rocket in from Clinton N’Jie’s chipped cross. Four minutes later, however, proceedings threatened to take a sour turn when Vladimir Rykov was sent off for raising a hand off the ball. That his Spartaks opponent was also sent off - for simulation - spoke more of sensible officiating to diffuse the situation.

Rausch was involved in the build-up to the next two goals. On 25 minutes his cross was first met by Kirill Panchenko’s blocked shot, then turned back into an unmarked N’Jie by Sergey Slepov for the Cameroonian to slot a simple second.

Just over 10 minutes later, the full-back dummied a shot before cutting inside and shooting on his weaker right foot. The rebound fell to Panchenko who struck the crossbar, and although the ball had already crossed the line before spinning back out, he followed up to head in and make sure of Dynamo’s third.

N’Jie’s anticipation took him round the keeper some way outside the penalty area, but he contrived to dribble a weak shot well wide of an open goal five minutes before the break. A minute later Rauch’s clever pass found him free but he could only strike the outside of the post.

Just before the break he was more clinical as he latched onto a long ball forward down the left channel, cut inside and wrong-footed the keeper with a low finish.

The tempo dropped in the second half but there was still time for Ivan Skolik to see a tap-in disallowed for offside. After 83 minutes Tyukavin still had some work to do after Oscar Hiljemark’s pass, but he iced the cake with a confident near-post finish.

Igor Leshchuk collided with the post in the closing stages, but Dynamo’s goal itself remained unscathed. They go on to play Sochi on Monday 17 February next.
