Highlights of Matchday 26: Utkin's first double, the highest-scoring ‘golden match’

print version

We have picked out the most important facts and figures from matchday 26, held on 4 and 5 July.

Daniil Utkin, a 20-year-old academy product of FC Krasnodar, registered the first double in his RPL career, scoring against Zenit in the 29th and 50th minutes. The second goal was particularly beautiful: the midfielder struck a powerful slightly curling shot from distance just inside the post. Utkin has four goals in total this season.

In his third match against Spartak Moscow, Vladimir Obukhov, a youth product of the Red and Whites, scored for FC Tambov. The player was in the Spartak system from 2003 to 2016. Before that, Obukhov had previously played against his former team for FC Sochi on RPL matchday one and for Kuban Krasnodar in the 2017/18 Russian Cup without scoring, and his teams lost in those matches. But on matchday 26 Obukhov's goal from the penalty spot earned FC Tambov victory.

It took CSKA Moscow four minutes and 23 seconds to score three goals against Akhmat Grozny on the road. Fedor Chalov scored for the first time since November 2019, with Nikola Vlasic and Arnor Sigurdsson also on the scoresheet. No one has scored three goals in one match more quickly this season.

In the fifth minute, Sardar Azmoun opened the scoring for Zenit St. Petersburg against FC Krasnodar. This is the fastest goal between the teams, coming two minutes earlier than Ragnar Sigurdsson's goal in October 2014.

Six goals were scored by Zenit and Krasnodar in the title-clinching match. This is the highest-scoring match in which the RPL winner was determined. The previous record also belonged to Zenit; in 2010, the St. Petersburg club beat Rostov 5-0 at home and became champions ahead of schedule.

Eight years one month and 22 days passed from the moment of defender Denis Terentyev's debut in the RPL to his first goal in the league. The Zenit product made his first RPL appearance on 13 May 2012, coming off the bench in the 89th minute of the 2-0 win against Anzhi on matchday 44 of the extended transition season. The FC Ufa player, on loan from Zenit, rescued a draw with his goal in the third minute added on against FC Ural.

It took Denis Makarov 10 minutes to score the winner against FC Orenburg after coming on as a substitute. This was the midfielder's sixth match for Rubin, whom he joined in the winter of 2020 from Neftekhimik. Incidentally, Makarov has played for FC Orenburg, but in the Youth Championship and in the PFL.

Evgeny Lutsenko scored his 13th goal of the season against Dynamo Moscow, for whom he played between 2016-2019. This is only two goals fewer than in three seasons at the Moscow club: for the White and Blues, he scored six times in the FNL, eight in the RPL, and one more in the Russian Cup. Lutsenko is also the only player to have scored on all four matchdays after the restart.
