FC Krasnodar 3-0 Ural Ekaterinburg
Sunday 12 July, Krasnodar Stadium
Goals: Krasnodar - Berg (14’), Fernandes (56’), Cabella (pen 83’)
Man of the Match: Othman El Kabir (Ural)
Krasnodar ran out comfortable winners as Marcus Berg, Manuel Fernandes and Remy Cabella - with his first goal for the club - scored at home to Ural Ekaterinburg. Berg and Daniil Utkin also hit the woodwork.
Berg applied the faintest - but most important - touch to Daniil Utkin’s whipped free kick to deceive Vladislav Poletaev and hand Krasnodar the lead after 14 minutes. He also hit the post later in the half from a tight angle with the keeper beaten.
As the rain began to bucket down in Krasnodar Stadium, Fernandes took advantage of a messy goalmouth scramble to smash a second past Poletaev to put the hosts firmly in control. Such was Krasnodar’s confidence that Daniil Utkin even attempted a cheeky backheel from six yards out that hit the post.
It was only a matter of time before the lead was extended, and as Wanderson burst through the defence he was brought down by Nikolay Zolotov in the box. Cabella dinked a panenka penalty over Poletaev’s despairing dive to open his Krasnodar goalscoring account.
FC Krasnodar are away to Krylia Sovetov Samara next on Wednesday 15 July, while Ural Ekaterinburg host Arsenal Tula on the same evening.
