Andrey Egorychev struck deep into the second half with a well-controlled side-foot volley from Dmitri Efremov’s inswinging cross. In the first half, former Ural striker Fedor Smolov had missed a glorious chance with a volley of his own from two yards out, but he skied it over. He made up for his miss with a close-range finish with time running out rapidly to save Marko Nikolic from his first defeat in charge of Lokomotiv.

Ural doubled their points tally with the draw, while Lokomotiv move on to seven points.

Ural Ekaterinburg are at home again next up as FC Krasnodar visit on Saturday 22 August, while Lokomotiv Moscow have a derby away to Spartak Moscow on Sunday 23 August.
