CSKA Moscow closed the gap to Zenit and Spartak to one point ahead of the top two clashing later on Saturday, despite playing nearly half the game with 10 men. Just after half time Hordur Magnusson was shown a straight red card for dragging down Andrey Panyukov close to the CSKA penalty area, but less than 10 minutes later Viktor Gancharenko’s men were 2-0 up. They took the lead through Baktiyor Zaynutdinov’s calm finish before Konstantin Maradishvili’s fine strike.

Ural remain 11th on 10 points, while CSKA move up into third place on 19 points, one behind leaders Zenit and Spartak.
