Both French and Russian teams made their debut in the Champions League group stage and earned their first points. After the goalless first half Egor Sorokin’s foul lead to the penalty, which was capitalised by Sehrou Guirassy. But three minutes later the visitors equalised thanks to Christian Ramirez' strike outside the box.

The second clash in the group E between Chelsea and Sevilla ended with the goalless draw.
