RPL expresses its condolences over the death of Diego Maradona

On 25 November, the legendary Argentine player, coach and 1986 world champion Diego Armando Maradona died at the age of 60.

During his playing career, Maradona played in Argentina, Spain and Italy. With Boca Juniors he won the Argentine championship, with Barcelona he won the Spanish Cup and League Cup, and at Napoli he became a two-time Italian champion and winner of the UEFA Cup. Together with the Argentine national team, Diego won the 1986 FIFA World Cup, and his goal against England in the quarter-finals of that tournament was recognized by FIFA as the best goal of the 20th century.

As a coach, Maradona worked in Argentina, the United Arab Emirates and Mexico, and also led the Argentine national team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Since September 2019, he had coached Gimnasia La Plata at home.
