RPL teams at winter training camps: Zenit win twice, Rubin’s spirited victory over Sochi

On 24 January, Russian Premier Liga teams played friendly matches at their training camps before resuming the 2020/21 season.

Zenit St. Petersburg 3-0 Pakhtakor

Zenit team played two matches at their training camp in the UAE. In the first game, the Blue-White-Shy Blues faced Pakhtakor from Uzbekistan. In the opening half, Andrey Mostovoy and Stanislav Krapukhin scored, and in the second half Mostovoy completed a double with a penalty.

Zenit 2-0 Shakhtyor Soligorsk

In the second match, Zenit faced the champion of Belarus. Daler Kuzyaev and Sardar Azmoun scored for Sergey Semak’s team. On 27 January, they will play Ural Ekaterinburg.

FC Rostov 1-0 Ostersunds

Rostov played Swedish Top League side Ostersunds at their training camp in Spain. The only goal was scored by Dmitry Poloz from the penalty spot in the 27th minute. On 28 January, Rostov will take on Marbella from Segunda B.

FC Sochi 2-3 Rubin Kazan

Sochi and Rubin faced each other in Turkey. By the break, Sochi were leading 2-1 thanks to goals from Artur Yusupov and Anton Zabolotny, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored for Rubin. In the second half, the Georgian grabbed his second with a penalty, and Ivan Ignatyev scored the winner. On 28 January, Sochi will play Serbian club Cukaricki, and on 2 February Rubin will meet FC Khimki.

FC Khimki 1-3 Celje

At their training camp in Belek, Turkey, Khimki lost to Slovenian side Celje. The only goal for the RPL side was scored by newcomer Senin Sebai with a penalty. On 25 January, Igor Cherevchenko's men will face Arda from Bulgaria.

Ural Ekaterinburg 2-1 Liwa

Yury Matveev’s side met Liva from Abu Dhabi. Ural goals were scored by a trialist and Ramazan Gadzhimuradov. On 27 January, they will face Zenit St. Petersburg.
