Karavaev stunner sparks Zenit rout

Vyacheslav Karavaev sent a world-class rocket into the top corner from distance to break the deadlock for Zenit as they extended their lead at the top of the table. Midway through the second period, RPL top goalscorer Sardar Azmoun stepped up to double the advantage from the penalty spot with his 13th goal of the season. 

With 15 minutes remaining Artem Dzyuba tapped into an open goal from six yards out to go joint-third in the all-time RPL goalscoring charts. Soon after a rapid counter found Andrey Mostovoy in the penalty area, from where he cut inside and curled a precise low finish into the bottom corner. 

Zenit extend their lead at the top of the table five points, while Akhmat remain 11th on 26 points.
