A Fedor Smolov stunner sealed Lokomotiv’s passage to the semi-finals of the Russian Cup against 10-man Sochi. He had given Lokomotiv the lead on the stroke of half-time, making it four goals in four games in all competitions since returning from injury last month.

Kirill Zaika was sent off shortly after the break for a second yellow card. Although his teammate Artur Yusupov struck a precise low finish to reduce the deficit with 20 minutes remaining, Francois Kamano walked into an empty net with the last touch after Sochi keeper Denis Adamov had been caught upfield.

The draw for the Russian Cup semi-finals will take place on 9 April.
