We have rounded up the main results of the RPL season.

Zenit won the league title for the third consecutive season and the seventh time in Russian history (the eighth including the title in 1984). Sergey Semak's team won the championship after a crushing 6-1 victory over Lokomotiv on matchday 28. In the 2021/22 season, Zenit will play in the Champions League group stage.

Spartak took second place thanks to a 2-2 comeback draw against Akhmat on matchday 30. They finished as runners up for the sixth time in RPL history. The Red-Whites will play in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. The draw for this stage is scheduled for 19 July, with matches due to be held on 3-4, and 10 August.

Lokomotiv finished third in the RPL, and Marko Nikolics' side won the Russian Cup, beating Krylia Sovetov Samara 3-1 in the final. Thanks to winning the national Cup, the Railwaymen will compete in the Europa League.

Rubin and Sochi finished fourth and fifth respectively and earned tickets to the inaugural Conference League. Rubin will compete in European competition for the first time since the 2015/16 season and will start from the third qualifying round. Sochi will make their European debut, and will start from the second qualifying round.

Rotor (15th) and Tambov (16th) were relegated directly from the RPL. In 2020, Rotor returned to the league after a 16-year break, while Tambov spent the last two seasons in the RPL.
