RPL players on international duty: Bijol's Slovenia beat Malta, Lovren's Croatia snatch three points in Slovakia

On 4 September, Russian Premier Liga players took part in 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Europe

Group D

Finland 1-0 Kazakhstan

Akhmat defender Marat Bystrov, who played 90 minutes against Ukraine on 1 September, remained on the bench for Kazakhstan, and CSKA midfielder Baktiyor Zaynutdinov was not included in the visitors' lineup. Kazakhstan remain last in the group with two points. On 7 September they will travel to take on Bosnia and Herzegovina, who also have two points in the qualifiers.

Group G

Netherlands 4-0 Montenegro

Rubin midfielder Sead Hakshabanovic came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute, when Montenegro were already 2-0 down in Eindhoven. In added time, the hosts scored twice more: as well as Memphis Depay's double, Georginio Wijnaldum and Cody Gakpo also got on the scoresheet. 

Montenegro are fourth in the group with seven points, and next take on Latvia on 7 September in Podgorica.

Group H

Slovenia 1-0 Malta

CSKA midfielder Jaka Bijol played the entire match for Slovenia as a central defender alongside former RPL player Miha Mevlja. Matjaz Kek's team picked up their second victory in the qualifiers - the first was a 1-0 win over Croatia on 24 March - and with seven points are third in the group. Malta, who play Russia in Moscow on 7 September, are fifth with four points.

Slovakia 0-1 Croatia

Zenit defender Dejan Lovren played 90 minutes in Bratislava, while Rubin defender Filip Uremovic and Dynamo midfielder Nikola Moro remained on the bench. Marcelo Brozovic's goal in the 86th minute brought Croatia an away victory and allowed them to catch up with Russia at the top of the group on 10 points. Slovakia are fourth on six points. 

On 7 September, Slovakia will play in Bratislava against Cyprus, and Croatia will take on Slovenia in Split.

Friendly match

Bosnia and Herzegovina 1-0 Kuwait

Rostov defender Dennis Hadzikadunic played the last five minutes of the match, and the hosts beat Kuwait thanks to Smail Prevlyak's goal in the 66th minute. On 7 September, Bosnia and Herzegovina will play against Kazakhstan in a 2022 World Cup qualifier.
