On 5 October, a General Meeting was held at the RPL office.
On the appointment of the acting President of the RPL
Before the start of the General Meeting, the President of the Russian Premier Liga Sergei Pryadkin informed the participants of his resignation from the post he had held since 2007. The participants thanked Sergey Gennadyevich for the work done as head of the League and unanimously supported Ashot Khachaturyan for the role of acting President of the RPL.
Ashot Rafailovich has headed the RFU refereeing committee since 2019 and has been a member of the RFU Executive Committee since 2020. He will lead the League until the election of a new president, scheduled for 22 November. Applications will be accepted until 8 October.
About the RPL format
All participants of the General Meeting voted to keep the current RPL format for the 2022/23 season. The championship will be held with the 16 teams across 30 rounds. The decision is due to uncertainty around the timing of the introduction of new formats of UEFA club tournaments, as well as possible changes in the FIFA international calendar.
About media channels
The participants of the General Meeting listened to the report of the task force on television rights and unanimously decided to accept Gazprom-Media Holding's proposal to acquire the rights to cover the RPL from the 2022/23 season. The meeting noted the media channel's much improved offer as well as unprecedented conditions for the production and delivery of the signal, as well as investments in the promotion of the RPL product.
The RPL task force on media channels retains its membership and will continue to work on the implementation of commercial rights.
