On 3 May, professional football club Krylia Sovetov Samara celebrates its anniversary since first match in the history of the club.

On this day in 1942 in Kuybyshev, Krylia playing as Captain Karelin Team faced another city side Lokomotiv, who played as Konstantin Ivanov Team. This date is an official club's birthday. Later Krylia changed its name for once, they were called Zenit in 1953 since July till November.

The biggest Samara achievement in the top flight is the third place in 2004 RPL season. The team also reached National Cup finals four times: it happened in 1953 and 1964 in the USSR Cup and repeated in Russian Cup 2003/04 and 2020/21 seasons.
