For the first time since 2018/19 season, two RPL teams will be the participants of the Russian Cup Final.
Dynamo Moscow started in the tournament from the elite group round and took the first place in the Group 11 beating both FC Orenburg (3-0) and Dynamo Stavropol (6-0). During the playoffs Sandro Scwarz's team beat FC Nizhny Novgorod (3-0), Baltika Kaliningrad (1-1, 5-4 on penalties) and Alania Vladikavkaz (3-0).
Spartak Moscow automatically qualified in the Last 16 as eurocups participant. Paolo Vanoli's team started with beating PFC Kuban (6-1), then win the derby against CSKA Moscow (1-0) and finally earned a spot in the Final defeating Enisey Krasnoyarsk (3-0).
Both Moscow teams never crossed their paths in the Russian Cup Finals, but played once in the 1950 USSR Cup Final, and the Red-Whites earned a 3-0 win. Last time both sides met in the Cup was the Last 16 fixture last season, when Dynamo beat Spartak 2-0.
The final match will take place on Sunday 29 May at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. The kick-off time will be confirmed later. The last time two RPL teams played in the Cup Final was the 2018/19 season, when Lokomotiv Moscow beat Ural Ekaterinburg 1-0 at Samara Arena.
Dynamo were the Russian Cup winners only in 1994/1995 season, their last trophy in the club's history, while Spartak raised the trophy three times (1993/94, 1997/98, 2002/03).
