Ashot Rafailovich Khachaturyants announced decision to step down as Russian Premier Liga president.

RPL General Meeting confirmed his departure.

Ashot Khachaturyants comments:
"I want to thank the managers and owners of RPL clubs for their trust, mutual respect, and constructive dialogue.

"I also want to note that my team and I managed to put the league and communication with its clubs on a new track. We have launched and continue to reform the league, business processes are being improved.

"We managed to sign contracts with new reliable partners and sponsors, which allow the RPL clubs to stand firmly on their feet and look confidently into the future – of course, this is the key importance in our economic realities.

"I recommend Aleksandr Alaev for the post of RPL president. New challenges await the League and its new leader, while I hope that, if Alexander Alexandrovich's candidacy is approved, the course towards RPL reforms and the creation of a high-quality and competitive product will continue."
