On 23 January, RPL players were involved in Asian Cup, Africa Cup of Nations, and Pre-Olympic Tournament matches.
2023 AFC Asian Cup
Group B
Australia 1-1 Uzbekistan
Both RPL players, Rubin defender Rustam Ashurmatov and CSKA midfielder Abbos Fayzullaev, made the starting 11 against Australia, and while Fayzullaev was substituted after 63 minutes, Ashurmatov played full match. Uzbekistan finished group stage second with five points, and on 30 January they will face Group F runners-up (Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Oman, Kyrgyzstan) in the Round of 16 match.
Syria 1-0 India
CSKA youth system goalkeeper Maksim Sarraf left out of the Syria squad list for the match, while his team got the win and reached playoffs first time in their history.
Group C
Iran 2-1 UAE
Rostov midfielder Mohammad Mohebi entered the field after 67 minutes, in that moment the Iranians had already scored two goals; former RPL scorer Sardar Azmoun assisted Mehdi Taremi twice. Mohebi got his goal, but after VAR check it was disallowed due to foul from Rostov player. Iran won all three matches to become top of the group, and their playoffs path will start on 31 January with the match against Syria.
2023 Africa Cup of Nations
Group C
Gambia 2-3 Cameroon
Dynamo forward Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu left on Cameroon bench in the winning match, where the Indomitable Lions captured the Round of 16 spot. Rigobert Song team scored first in the second half, conceded two Gambia goals, but through own goal and Cristopher Wooh winner they stole the win. With four points Cameroon finished second, passed Guinea on scored goals. In the Round of 16 match the Lions will face Nigeria on 27 January.
Group D
Angola 2-0 Burkina Faso
Akhmat forward Mohamed Konate missed the match, as he was suspended for two yellow cards. Despite the defeat, Burkina Faso qualified to Round of 16 as group runner-up with four points. Their playoffs match is scheduled on 30 January against group E winner (Mali, South Africa, Namibia, Tunisia).
CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament
Group A
Bolivia U-23 0-1 Brazil U-23
CSKA defender Khellven spent just a minute of added time in the second half, while another Brazilian, Lokomotiv defender Lucas Fasson, stayed on the bench. Brazil, the champions of the last two Olympic Games, beat Bolivia through fast Endrick goal on fourth minute. Next, the Brazilians will play against Colombia on 26 January.
Ecuador U-23 1-1 Venezuela U-23
Orenburg forward Justin Cuero played 79 minutes for Ecuador, who are top of the group with four points in two matches. On 26 January, La Tri will face Bolivia.
Whom to follow on 24 January
At Africa Cup of Nations the final matches of the group stage will be played, and DR Congo alongside Spartak midfielder Theo Bongonda will meet Tanzania after two draws against Zambia and Morocco.
The Pre-Olympic Tournament in Venezuela will see the start of Uruguay team, who have Dynamo defender Nicolas Marichal. La Celeste will play first match against Paraguay.
