print version

On 17 March 2020, a General Meeting of RPL clubs was held, at which Sergey Gennadyevich Pryadkin was unanimously elected President of the Russian Premier Liga for a new five-year term. The vote was held in full accordance with the charter in the presence of representatives of the Russian Football Union election committee.

At the beginning of the meeting, Pryadkin reported on the results of the previous period and presented the key directions of the league's development for the next five years. The main provisions of the new strategy will include:

  • further development and improvement of the league's competitive and media products
  • marketing initiatives aimed at attracting and digitalising spectators
  • growth of revenue from the sale of commercial and media rights taking into account modern trends
  • optimisation of the corporate governance system and organisational structure

"I am grateful to the RPL clubs for their trust, and their unanimous support is very important to me. We have done a lot of work together to update and improve the league's product.

“We have rebranded and updated the brand's communication strategy and strengthened the sports component of the tournament. We have introduced additional licensing criteria, introduced the institute of match management, and switched to modern calendar principles. Stadiums have become more comfortable and safe.

“In order to provide financial incentives to clubs and improve their work with the spectators, we introduced an additional marketing criterion for the distribution of funds, extended the relationship with the General Manager and signed an agreement with the title partners.

We have more to do to move forward. Today, the main directions of the league's work for the next five years have been defined. Together we will make it stronger, more attractive and more interesting," said Pryadkin.
