CSKA hold firm in goalless Moscow derby

print version

Dynamo Moscow 0-0 CSKA Moscow
Saturday 27 June, VTB Arena

Man of the Match: Nikola Vlasic

Sent off: Jaka Bijol (90+2’)

In the absence of Viktor Goncharenko due to health issues, Sergey Ovchinnikov guided CSKA to a spirited goalless draw away to Dynamo Moscow. The well-fought point against their city rivals extended their winless run to seven league matches.

Ovchinnikov sprang a surprise with his team selection, handing academy product Konstantin Maradishvili his first ever start in midfield ahead of Kristijan Bistrovic and Jaka Bijol. Maradishvili played the entire 90 minutes which included a well-struck long-range effort that Anton Shunin held comfortably.

Ivan Ordets bulleted a header just wide after half an hour in the midst of a cagey opening period. Twenty minutes from the end Nikola Vlasic drilled CSKA’s best chance inches wide from distance.

Jaka Bijol came on as a 77th minute substitute but managed to get sent off in added time after a second bookable offence. His teammates closed out the game to hand Dynamo manager Kirill Novikov his first goalless draw in charge.

Dynamo Moscow take on FC Sochi away next on Wednesday 1 July, while CSKA Moscow have another Moscow derby - this time against Spartak - the day before.

Dynamo Moscow: Shunin, Morozov, Rykov, Ordets, Skopintsev (Pliev 85’), Neustadter, Yusupov, Karapuzov (Rausch 58’), Panchenko (Phillip 58’), Joaozinho (Komlichenko 71’), Igboun (Hildjemark 85’)

CSKA Moscow: Akinfeev, Schennikov, Diveev, Magnusson, Fernandes, Maradishvili, Oblyakov, Nababkin, Vlasic, Sigurdsson (Bijol 77’), Chalov (Kuchaev 73’)
