print version

FC Rostov 2-3 Spartak Moscow
Sunday 4 April, Rostov Arena

Goals: Rostov - Maslov (OG 27), Makhatadze (32); Spartak - Moses (23), Sobolev (44, 58)
Man of the Match: Aleksandr Sobolev (Spartak)

Aleksandr Sobolev shone with two goals in a southern rollercoaster that saw the lead change hands three times inside the first hour.

Victor Moses’ deflected effort capped an impressive solo run to hand Spartak the lead midway through the opening half, but within 10 minutes the visitors were behind. Firstly Pavel Maslov’s outstretched leg turned in a low cross, before Georgi Makhatadze’s beautifully placed finish crept in off Aleksandr Maksimenko’s post.

On the stroke of half time, Sobolev took advantage of some hesitation in the six yard box to head Spartak back level, before a thumping header just before the hour put them back in front.

Rostov stay eighth on 37 points, while Spartak strengthened their grip on second place on 47 points.

Next RPL fixtures: Saturday 10 April - FC Rostov vs Rubin Kazan; Sunday 11 April - Lokomotiv Moscow vs Spartak Moscow
