Bulgarian winger Ivelin Popov scored his first goal in over a year as Sochi narrowly usurped Ural on Monday. Popov, who recently recovered from a long term injury, gave his team the lead through a simple tap-in just eight minutes in. Sochi dominated the rest of the first half, and then doubled their advantage with a Cristhian Noboa penalty in the second half. The Leopards saw out the rest of the match with ease, and took all three points.

Sochi will now prepare for the second leg of their European tie against Partizan Belgrade, which is on Thursday. Ural are struggling on the other hand, having gained just one point in their first three games of the season.

Next RPL fixtures: Saturday August 14 - Spartak Moscow vs Ural; Monday August 16 - Sochi vs Khimki
