Malcom wins RPL scorers race

Zenit St. Petersburg forward Malcom captured top of 2022/23 season scorers race in RPL.

The Brazilian made 27 appearances and scored 23 goals. He overcame Quincy Promes from Spartak on three goals. CSKA striker Fedor Chalov finished third with 19 goals.

Malcom is fifth Zenit player to become best scorer of single RPL season following Aleksandr Kerzhakov (2004), Hulk (2014/15), Sardar Azmoun (2019/20) and Artem Dzyuba (2019/20, 2020/21).

Also forward is fifth player from Brazil to win the scorers race. Alongside Malcom and Hulk the others are Vagner Love (2008, CSKA), Welliton (2009, 2010; Spartak) and Wanderson (2012/13, Krasnodar).

Malcom joined Zenit from FC Barcelona in 2019. This season he became four-time RPL champion and scored more goals, than in all previous (15 combined).
