Zenit started preparations for a new season

The Blue-White-Sky Blues wrapped up their summer vacation on June 21, and began the new season by undergoing medical exams, the official site says.

The first wave of Zenit players had their traditional medical exams with specialists at the SOGAZ medical center in downtown St. Petersburg starting at 9:00 a.m. Five first team players got their exams on Friday — Vyacheslav Malafeev, Yury Zhevnov, Milan Rodic, Konstantin Zyryanov and Alexander Bukharov. All of them were examined by an ENT specialist, cardiologist, neurologist, ophthalmologist, traumatologist, and other medical staff.

Zenit players continue to be examined for several days at the SOGAZ medical center. Zenit had its first practice of the new season on Friday evening at Udelny Park. Zenit players who`ve been playing with their national teams are due back in St. Petersburg on June 25.

Luciano Spalletti`s side will play its first official match of the new season on July 13 in Rostov-on-Don in the Russian Super Cup vs. CSKA.
