St. Petersburg`s very own Andrey Arshavin, one of Russia`s best players of the last decade, is coming home to the city on the Neva banks. Arshavin has officially signed a contract for two years with Zenit, the club's official site says.
Andrey Arshavin was born on May 29, 1981 in Leningrad. He played for Zenit`s reserve team starting in 1999, and joined the first team in 2000. Arshavin has played 310 matches and scored 71 goals as a Zenit player, and has won the whole set of Russian titles, including the Premier League, Russian Cup, and Russian Super Cup, as well as the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup. Arshavin was voted Russian player of the year several times.
Arshavin debuted for Arsenal London on February 21, 2009. There he played 144 matches, scored 31 goals, and won third place in the English Premier League. Arshavin was voted EPL player of the month in April, 2009.
Arshavin played on loan for Zenit from February to July 2012, and featured in 11 matches, scoring 3 goals and making 5 assists.
Arshavin will rejoin Zenit on July 1, when his contract with Arsenal expires.
