On Sunday, October 13, on the eve of an evening training session a new head coach was introduced to Kuban players. Belorussian specialist Viktor Goncharenko headed the team, the club’s official site says.
Viktor Mikhaylovich Goncharenko is a trainee of Belorussian football. He spent his professional career in BATE football club. From 1998 to 2002 Goncharenko played for this club, later he worked with BATE youth team as a coach and since 2007 he worked as a head coach.
Under his guidance the flagship of Belorussian football gains serious success both in a national championship and on the European arena. As a head coach Viktor Goncharenko won golden medals of the Belorussian Championship with BATE 5 times in a row from 2008 to 2012. These seasons he was recognized as the best coach in the country. He also won the Cup of Belorussia (2010) and the Supercup twice (2010, 2011).
Viktor also became the youngest coach in history of Champions League. In 2008 he was 31 when led BATE to the group stage of the tournament. In total under his guidance BATE played 219 games in various tournaments, won 130 times, played a draw 54 times and lost 35 games.
Agreement with Goncharenko is designed till May 2017.
