Zenit Head Coach Mircea Lucescu announced Artem Dzyuba the team captain before the evening training session in Spain, as the club official website informs.
Artem Dzyuba joined Zenit in 2015, played 64 matches, scored 31 goals and made 14 assists. The forward became the Cup of Russia winner with the Blue-White-SkyBlues, as well as two times Super Cup of Russia winner.
Dzyuba became the 44th captain in the Russian history of the Blue-White-SkyBlues. As for the previous years, the most famous Zenit captains are Vladislav Radimov (116 matches), Alexander Anyukov (113 matches) and Anatoly Timoschuk (86).
