Domenico Tedesco will not sign an extension with Spartak at the end of the season, the head coach announced himself after the matchday 19 game against Zenit in St. Petersburg (1-3).
"Yesterday I informed the owner that I would not renew the contract in May. It was the most difficult decision in my career. I'm extremely proud to be head coach of this team, but the situation with COVID-19 has changed something. When I signed the contract, my family could fly to me as I could fly to them. I believe in players and everyone who connected to the club", said Tedesco, according to club's press office.
35-year-old manager joined Spartak last autumn and finished the 2019/20 season on seventh place in RPL also reaching the Russian Cup semi-finals. This campaign the Red-Whites are third in the league standings with 35 points after 19 matchweeks. Tedesco has won twice the RPL Manager of the month award in August and September.
