Viktor Gancharenko and CSKA part ways

print version

Viktor Gancharenko and CSKA Moscow have decided to terminate their cooperation by mutual consent.

The Belarusian was appointed head coach in December 2016, and went on to win 82 of his 167 matches in charge, including the Russian Super Cup in 2018. Under his guidance CSKA twice finished as runners up in the Russian Premier Liga and reached the stage of the quarter-finals of the Europa League in 2017/18.

The following season saw arguably his two most iconic results, as the Armymen beat 13-time winners Real Madrid home and away in the Champions League group stages.

In total, Gancharenko has managed 179 RPL matches across spells with Kuban Krasnodar, Ural Ekaterinburg, FC Ufa and CSKA.
