Rubin Kazan midfielder Oleg Shatov has decided to terminate his contract with the club and take a career break to spend time with his family.
Shatov has added that he doesn’t intend to retire yet, and will try to return to playing.
“For me, as a football player, it has been a very difficult period. I passed it as best I could and coped, but sometimes you need to hit pause and jump off this wheel.
“I will make a decision in January. We have already talked with the club - perhaps if I have the desire, health and motivation, and can be competitive, I might appear at the Rubin training camp in Turkey in January.”
Shatov has won the Russian Premier Liga three times, and lifted the Russian Cup and Russian Super Cup twice each as well. This season, he has only managed to make three RPL appearances, and one UEFA Conference League appearance.
