Spartak Moscow defender Samuel Gigot has signed a contract with Ligue 1 side Marseille. The Frenchman is now officially a Marseille player, but will remain in Moscow for the remainder of the 2021/22 season.
Gigot arrived in the Russian Premier Liga in the summer of 2018 from Belgian Pro League club gent, and so far has scored nine goals in 99 appearances for Spartak. All those goals came in the RPL, the most recent a derby tier in added time against Dynamo last October.
Previously, Gigot had represented Kortrijk and Gent in Belgium, having started his professional career in France’s second-tier with Arles.
