Anatoly Ilyin, a great Soviet player, Olympic Champion, scorer of the golden goal at the Olympic Games 1956, a forward of Spartak Moscow, passed away. He was 84.
Anatoly had an outstanding football life. He played 14 seasons for Spartak, played 254 matches and scored 88 goals. Ilyin became the five-times Champion of the USSR, twice Cup of the USSR holder. He also was the first scorer in history of European Cups and Championships by scoring a goal to Hungary in the 4th minute.
Anatoly Ilyin is a Merited Master of Sports of the USSR. After his playing career was over, he had been working for many years – 1963 - 1996 — as a coach in Spartak Academy and brought up many talented players.
