Stanislav Cherchesov is appointed as National Team of Russia Head Coach

On Thursday, 11 August an extraordinary meeting of FUR Executive Committee took place in the House of Football, as the official FUR website informs, where the following decision was taken:

- Approve the appointment of Stanislav Cherchesov to the post of the head coach of the Russian National team.

PERSONAL DATA:

Stanislav Cherchesov

Russian football coach. Former Soviet and Russian player, goalkeeper. Capped for the USSR and Russian teams. Russian merited master of sports (2003). 

Playing career: FC Spartak (Ordzhonekidze) (1981-1984), FC Spartak (Moscow) (1984-1987, 1989-1992, 1995, 2002), FC Dinamo (Dresden) (1993-1995), FC Tirol (1996-2002).

Coaching career:  FC Kufstein (2004), FC Wacker-Tirol (2004 - 2006), FC Spartak (Moscow) (2007 - 2008), FC Zhemchuzhina Sochi (2010-2011), FC Terek (2011-2013), FC Amkar (2013-2014), FC Dinamo (Moscow) (2014-2015), FC Legia Warsaw (2015-2016).

Playing honours: Four titles of the USSR and Russian championships, runner-up of the USSR Championship, third place of the Russian Championship, the USSR Cup title, the Commonwealth Champions Cup winner, three titles of the Austrian Championship, runner-up of the Austrian Cup and Super Cup.

Coaching honours: Runner-up of the Russian Championship, the title of the Polish Championship, the Polish Cup winner.

Personal merits: three times Goalkeeper of the year (the Ogonek magazine nomination),  Best goalkeeper of the Russian Championship (the Sport Express newspaper nomination), second place in the list of the best USSR players in 1989 (according to the Football weekly ranking).

49 caps for the national team. FIFA World Cup player (1994 and 2002) and the UEFA EURO player (1992 and 1996) with the Russian National team. An appearance for the FIFA team in the charity game against America in 1995, and for Europe vs. Africa in 1997
