Vladimir Ilyin moves to Akhmat Grozny

print version

Ural Ekaterinburg forward Vladimir Ilyin has left the club after three years to join Akhmat Grozny. The former Kuban Krasnodar forward leaves Ural as the joint-top goalscorer in the league having played in every available league fixture.

Ilyin made his top-flight debut at the age of 24 after joining Ural three years ago. He went on to score 13 goals in 75 RPL appearances, leaving a scoring rate of less than a goal every four matches.

During his time in Ekaterinburg he started in two Russian Cup finals as Ural lost both matches to Lokomotiv Moscow. Although he struggled to score consistently - last season yielded just one goal in 20 league appearances - Ural only lost one of the 20 games in which he scored.
