Ufa failed to score for the third time this winter as they drew 0-0 with Urartu of Armenia on Saturday. Vadim Evseev’s men were in almost complete control for the majority of the game, but couldn’t find a way through.
In the opening stages Pavel Nikitin headed in from three yards out only to see it ruled out for offside. Soon after Vyacheslav Krotov - who had earlier signed a two-year contract extension - turned his marker smartly only to poke a harmless effort at the keeper.
One of the closest opportunities to break the deadlock came after the hour mark when a chaotic goalmouth scramble saw Aleksey Kozlov bear down on goal before setting up Andres Vombergar to scupper two close-range chances.
Vombergar had a golden chance to redeem himself from the penalty spot later, but his high spot kick was turned away acrobatically. Other than punching clear a long-range effort after a four-on-three breakaway late on, Aleksandr Belenov had next to nothing to do in Ufa’s goal.
Ufa take on another Armenian side in Ararat-Armenia on Tuesday to end their second training camp.
