FC Rostov remain one of only three Russian Premier Liga clubs still to have kept a clean sheet in the winter after they drew 1-1 with AIK Stockholm of Sweden. Eldor Shomurodov - who signed a contract extension last week - scored from the spot in the second half to give FC Rostov the lead.
Sergey Pesyakov punched away a free kick at full stretch, while up the other end Roman Eremenko forced a cautious save from distance. Eldor Shomurodov was twice denied from close range in a dominant first half for FC Rostov.
Ten minutes into the second half Shomurodov sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot. Pavel Mamaev’s long-range effort shortly after typified the momentum with Valery Karpin’s side.
With quarter of an hour to go, AIK were awarded their own penalty. Pesyakov saved the initial effort down low to his left, but the referee booked him and demanded a retake for being off his line. Second time round, he couldn’t keep out Jasir Asani’s effort.
